Proclaimed at Tiflis as King of Kartli, 9th July 1744. Crowned at the Cathedral of the Living Pillar, Mtzkheta, 1st October 1745 o.s. Resigned Kakheti to his eldest son, Irakli. Governor-General of Azerbaijan 1748-1749. Travelled to Russia in 1761, where he hoped to secure military aid against Daghistani invaders from the Russians. Received by the Tsar and granted a pension of 1,000 roubles p.m. Granted the style of The Most Serene Tsar Taimuraz II, King of Kartli and Kakheti. m.
