BIOGRAPHY: He was born June 14, 1844 and died at the age of 95 on November 16, 1939 at home on Racine Ave. in Chicago. He became a citizen, renouncing his allegiance to the Kingdom of Great Britian and Scotland on 25 August 1902 according to papers filed in Fayette County, Illinois.
BIOGRAPHY: [He] immigrated in 1898 to Chicago. William had been a successful business man in Glasgow and was an owner of the Tramway Company in Glasgow. They sailed to New York on the SS Anchoria having sold his business to buy tickets to America. William and his family settled in Chicago. While living there, he again ran a sucessful livery business located on Chicago Avenue on the corner of Dearborn and Clark streets.
